Information to make your first visit simple and easy.
No one loves paperwork, but it’s a fact of life. We keep the process as streamlined as possible, beginning with sending you links to your paperwork after you make an appointment. These can be done on a desktop or on your phone–whichever is more convenient for you.
Our forms include all of the information we are required to gather to remain in compliance with insurance companies, as well as to give us the necessary details we need to best care for you. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact us so we can review them with you.

Nervous about your first visit? You’re in great hands at Texas Dental Arts!
When you arrive, you will be greeted by our friendly team members. They are experts at what they do, including making nervous patients feel more at ease. If you have any questions, just ask.
Once you have checked in and we have confirmed that all paperwork has been received, one of our dental hygienists or dental assistants will take you to your treatment room. There is some space for an extra person to be in the room with you if you choose, though we do recommend limiting your party to just one other individual due to space limitations. Additional family members or friends are welcome to stay in the lobby during your visit.
If your first visit is for an exam and routine cleaning, our hygienist will take any needed x-rays, complete your dental cleaning, and let Dr. Unger know when she is ready for him to come in for your exam. If you are being seen for the first time for a pain issue, then one of our assistants will get you seated and ask some preliminary questions about the location of your pain, and anything else that will help determine the next course of action before Dr. Unger comes in.
Lots of patients are nervous at their first appointment, but we are proud of our ability to eliminate that nervousness. We do not do anything you are not ready for, or do not fully understand. Your exam is really a conversation about what you need and how we can help you achieve your dental goals. We never give anyone a hard time about how long it’s been since their last visit, or judge you for your teeth. You are here now, and that’s what matters. Dr. Unger loves getting to know his patients so he can help—whether that means actual treatment, or just a quick exam after a routine cleaning and a clean bill of health.

From the initial paperwork that outlines our expectations regarding account balances to payment arrangement agreements we make with you to pay for larger treatment, we never want you to wonder what you are paying for or why.
If you have PPO dental insurance, we will file claims with them on your behalf. We can work with any PPO plan, and we are in-network with most. Please note that we cannot work with any HMO plans, as these pre-assign you to a provider and they do not pay for any out-of-network benefits. We unfortunately are not in network with any HMO plans because of how poorly they reimburse providers. We cannot afford to provide the high level of care for the low reimbursements those plans offer.

At Texas Dental Arts, not having dental insurance is no problem! We have offered an in-house membership plan since we first opened our doors; approximately 20% of our patient base takes advantage of this great way to manage the annual costs of the basics, while enjoying a discount on any restorative needs.
